From Vespers
Psalm 135 (136) A paschal hymn |
---|
Anyone who is in Christ is a new creature. Alleluia.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his love is for ever.
Give thanks to the God of gods,
for his love is for ever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords,
for his love is for ever.
He alone works wonders,
for his love is for ever.
In his wisdom he made the heavens,
for his love is for ever.
He set the Earth upon the waters,
for his love is for ever.
He created the great lights,
for his love is for ever.
The sun, to rule over the day,
for his love is for ever.
The moon and stars, to rule over the night,
for his love is for ever.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
Anyone who is in Christ is a new creature. Alleluia.
Psalm 135 (136) |
---|
Let us love God, then, since he loved us first. Alleluia.
He struck down the first-born of Egypt,
for his love is for ever.
He led Israel out from their midst,
for his love is for ever.
With a strong hand and an outstretched arm,
for his love is for ever.
He divided the Red Sea in two,
for his love is for ever.
He led Israel out through the sea,
for his love is for ever.
He overthrew Pharaoh and his army,
for his love is for ever.
He led his people through the wilderness,
for his love is for ever.
He struck down great kings,
for his love is for ever.
Sihon, king of the Amorites,
for his love is for ever.
And Og, the king of Bashan,
for his love is for ever.
He gave their land to his people,
for his love is for ever.
A heritage for Israel his servant,
for his love is for ever.
He remembered us in our affliction,
for his love is for ever.
He rescued us from our enemies,
for his love is for ever.
He gives food to all creatures that live,
for his love is for ever.
Give thanks to the God of heaven,
for his love is for ever.

Nearly 15,000 French Mayors Will Refuse to Perform ‘Gay Marriages’
by CATHOLIC NEWS AGENCY 04/20/2013
PARIS — A group of at least 14,900 French mayors has said it will not perform “gay marriages,” even if the government moves ahead with plans to legalize the practice.
The administration of French President Francois Hollande has put forth a measure that would legalize “gay marriage,” allow same-sex couples to receive medical treatment for artificial procreation and to adopt children.
“It is foolish to think that the mobilization of the elected mayors would stop if the law is passed,” said Franck Meyer, spokesman for the association Mayors for Children.

People No Longer Want to Be Free
I have been thinking of many things this past week after the sad days in Boston.
One thing which is more and more obvious to me is that most people only want security and not freedom.
They want to feel secure about money, public safety, health, housing, the future.
They look to the State for all these things. How sad, and how dangerous.
Most people do not want the freedom of personal responsibility.
Most Catholics are not aware that socialism has been condemned over and over and over again by all the Popes since 1848.
One cannot be a Catholic and a socialist.
One cannot wish for security outside of Providence.
It is trust in God, the Father and the assurance of the Indwelling of the Trinity which gives us security. Nothing else.
If we sell our souls for security on earth, we shall absolutely lost eternal bliss.
There is no middle ground, none.
Freedoms mean that we must take responsibility for our own lives.
We must work, pray, play, be good citizens, read, study.
I see in it adult Catholics who REFUSE to study the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
They are going to lose eternal life, as it is our baptismal duty to know our faith, which means giving it effort.
I cannot teach, as people do not want teachers. I cannot speak the Truth, as I am told to be quiet and be nice.
I make people uncomfortable with my blog.
Good.
To follow Jesus is to put rocks in your shoes, and to accept the ones there and move on towards the goal.
Never give up. Never give in, or you will be lost. Pray for perseverance.
