"Lieutenant of God on Earth"

St. Louis is a star layman in the Church Triumphant. I highly suggest reading a biography of this great saint. His mother and regent said to him, "I would rather see you dead at my feet than guilty of a mortal sin." Louis took this statement seriously.

This man gives us an example of a real leader among leaders, creating justice in his realm, encouraging the arts, fighting and giving his life for the beleaguered Catholics in the Holy Land.

We celebrate his feast day tomorrow. He was a king, soldier, law-maker, patron of the arts, husband, father, personal carer of the poor and ill, including lepers, servant of God.  I have put a link to one short biography of him for you here.
