Scapegoating

One of the marks of saints had been that they were balanced in their mental health. Saints do not fall into paranoia, or hatred, or fear.

They manage to cooperate with grace. They manage to respond in love in all situations.

What one sees in times of crisis, such as in the history of Nazi Germany, or even that of the Soviet Union, are the hidden sins and tendencies of people coming to the fore. In other words, because they have not dealt with their own sins, or have not dealt with the predominant fault, they fall into great sins of compromise, deceit, even betrayal.

Paranoia stops love. One cannot love others, or even God properly if one fears other people. Sometimes this fear causes great pain, and the roots may be abuse, so that people default to defensive positions, even lying.

A great priest said once that lying is the running away of suffering. If one told the truth in a crisis situation, one may suffer certain consequences. One may lose a job, or even experience violence from a spouse, or alienate so-called friends because of the truth being said.

Fears actually harm thinking. One cannot think clearly or logically if one is experiencing craven fear.

What was seen in these two historical times of tyranny were people making very bad decisions, even betraying friends, out of fear, paranoia, or hatred. The Germans cooperated with the killing of the Jews out of fear, paranoia, or hatred.

Thousands of martyrs died in England, in Mexico, in China, because of fear, paranoia, or hatred. If one is not pursuing purity of heart and mind, one can easily fall into habits of sins which lead to the sin of Judas, betrayal of the innocence.

Sometimes people sin against others in order to cover up their own sins, which they are afraid would come to light if defensive measures were not put into place to protect their own status in a community. If any readers have worked in tense and paranoid offices, where people only cared about their own advancement, these readers understand perfectly how a fear culture can be created quickly.

Many years ago, for a while, I worked in a government office which was dominated by fear. This fear culture was so inequitous that the manager had spies who reported to him about other people in the office. She was paranoid because she was a compulsive liar and needed to keep on top of her web of lies. Sadly, she found others to cooperate in keeping others "in place" within this fear culture.

We are heading into such a culture now in America. Fear, paranoia and hatred will stalk the faithful Catholics, even to their death.

I have written about this before, as in a tyranny and in times of war or financial crisis, scapegoats have to be found to blame for the lack of national unity.

Now that paganism is the official religion of America, the Christians will naturally be these scapegoats, blamed for a lack of peace and harmony in a so-called tolerant nation.

Balance only comes with reason and faith. With the use of reason and without faith, men and woman default to fear, paranoia and hatred.

There is no middle ground.

Narcissists are particularly vulnerable to creating scapegoats in order to protect their grand, false views of themselves.  They will do anything to protect their secret overblown idea of themselves in order to survive an outburst of truth.

The narcissist needs to put others down in order to keep up the false image of themselves which they honestly believe is true. When narcissists rule nations or even a group of nations, those who go against them in any way are labelled trouble-makers, even terrorists.

Of course, this attitude reveals a lack of reason, rational thinking and balance.

Get ready for a huge lack of balance. Get ready for the three-pronged attack against the one, true, holy, Catholic and apostolic Church.

Fear, paranoia, and hatred will have their day, at least for awhile, as God allows havoc for the sake of souls.

Pray to be rid of hidden sins and the predominant fault so that you do not suddenly default to the great sins of compromise, abuse, and betrayal. There, but for the grace of God, go anyone of us.

Are your children in the Church Militant or the Church Mushy?

There is a famous story of a young girl in France, who was Jewish. On her way home from school, on July 15 or 16, 1942, she witnessed the infamous Vel d’Hiv roundup, when up to 13,000 Jews in Paris were taken to the old stadium Vélodrome d'Hiver and sent to Auschwitz.

The young girl had enough sense not to go home, but turned around and went to the closest house. She knocked on the door and an older woman answered. The woman opened the door, looked at the girl, and let her in.

Through out the entire war and occupation of Paris, this woman pretended that this girl was her own.

The child was saved by a brave woman, who would have been killed, if she was discovered hiding a Jewess.

The young girl was about twelve years old.

I am sharing some of the details as I am writing to parents a harsh but necessary lesson.

As parents, it is our duty to protect our children from harm.

It is not our duty to protect them from the truth of coming times of trials. Children in the next years will be facing a number of extremely difficult situations which will change their lives.

These changes should not come as a shock or surprise to even those in grade school.

Like this young girl, who knew what was happening, and used her common sense to survive, we need to be training children to live in the Church Militant, not the Church Mushy.

There is a wrong way that parents look at suffering. Too many want to pretend that their children will not suffer. But, we have a duty to prepare our children spiritually for suffering.

What does this mean? I have written many posts on the formation of virtue in children from a young age.

That is merely the first step. Formation in the virtues means reading books about virtues, going to Mass in the week, going to regular confession, saying the rosary, going to proper Adoration.

When my son was eight, I took him to the abortion vigil across from where a clinic was being built, and he said the rosary with the group there. The priest who led the vigils told me recently that my young son confided in him that he wanted to be a priest.

There is a connection. Another priest who influenced my son at the age of thirteen came out of the Serbian-Croatian wars as a young man. He shared stories of horrible persecution, and so did his wife. They lost family members because of their religion. They are Byzantine Catholics.

The lives of the martyrs should be shown as soon as possible, especially such great movies as A Man for All Seasons. Ten to twelve would be an appropriate age to begin with movies, but books can be read much earlier. One can share the news about the Christians being persecuted in Syria, or Bethlehem or Saudi Arabia, or Pakistan and show children the lives modern martyrs. Families can pray for these Christians.

Age 13-14

Agnes, Lucy, Tarcisius, Agatha, Odilo, Hugh of Lincoln, Peter Yu Tae-cho, the Ulma children, Ambrosio Kibuuka, Denis Ssebuggwawo, Kizito, Reparata,  and José Luis Sánchez del Río are either Servants of God or Blesseds, or Saints.

They are all martyrs, and so are the seven sons of the Mother in the Book of Maccabees, which you can find here. http://supertradmum-etheldredasplace.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-mother-of-seven-brothers.html

They were aged three to eighteen when they were martyred-all of the above. The Church honors them. There are many more child or adolescent saints who were martyred.

Denis SSebuggwawo, Age 16

I was reading books about the early martyrs at age seven. So was my son.

The third step, as stories and movies is step two, would be the praying to martyrs, especially if the child is named after one. I named my son after two martyrs, knowing the days to come would bring suffering, and he would need strong patrons.

Talk about the reality of the political situation if it begins to impinge on the family. Do not hide the truth, for example, if your church is shut down because of the lack of vocations or a priest shortage, share this with the family. If there are heresies or contraception taught in the schools, talk about this. Children need to know the future of the Church as real and affecting their lives. This would be step four.

Step five would be explaining to them that to be a Catholic means making a decision for Christ and His Church even in hard times.

Our children are surrounded more and more by people who hate the Church, hate Christ, and the ways of God. Step six would include discussions on what it means to be in the world, but not of the world. And, I would hope that parents would be living a life which is teaching this truth on a daily basis.

Parents, it is our duty to raise saints, not marshmallow children.

Those in the Church Mushy may not be able to save their souls in the times to come. We are responsible for teaching our children how to become saints in a hostile world.

And, of course, if you are helping your children become closer to Jesus, they will know that they are not alone.

Say the Guardian Angel prayer daily. I do.

to be continued....

Personal and Historical: Never To Be Forgotten

Wannsee Conference location-thanks to wiki
Because of Michael Voris's excellent video on the 16th, because my background is Czech and my great-granfather, a Knight of St. Gregory and a signer of the Czech Constitution, friend of Benes and Masaryk, and master of many other things, died heartbroken at the invasion of his country, because my ancestry is Jewish and because Kenneth Branagh is such a good actor, I just watched Conspiracy, which is available at the bottom of this post.

I grew up knowing about Lidice and Kristallnacht. These were my people-many of my ancestors disappeared in the war.  People planned these horrific events, and the Holocaust.

Lidice

If you have not read my little novelette of the past weekend, do so.

I highly suggest you look at Michael's video from the 16th and then take time to watch the movie.

This will all happen again, but with Catholics.

Do not kid yourself....

Are there people in hell?

From wiki:

Historians regard Heydrich as the most fearsome member of the Nazi elite.[78][79][80] Hitler called him "the man with the iron heart".[5] He was one of the main architects of theHolocaust during the early war years, answering only to, and taking orders from, Hitler, Göring, and Himmler in all matters pertaining to the deportation, imprisonment, and extermination of Jews.
Heydrich was one of the organisers of Kristallnacht, a pogrom against Jews throughout Germany on the night of 9–10 November 1938. Heydrich sent a telegram that night to various SD and Gestapo offices, helping to coordinate the program with the SS, SD, Gestapo, uniformed police (Orpo), SA, Nazi party officials, and even the fire departments. It talks about permitting arson and destroying Jewish businesses and synagogues, and orders the confiscation of all "archival material" out of Jewish community centres and synagogues. The telegram ordered that "as many Jews – particularly affluent Jews – are to be arrested in all districts as can be accommodated in existing detention facilities ... Immediately after the arrests have been carried out, the appropriate concentration camps should be contacted to place the Jews into camps as quickly as possible."[81][82] Twenty-thousand Jews were sent to concentration camps in the days immediately following; [83]historians consider Kristallnacht the beginning of the Holocaust.[84]
When Hitler asked for a pretext for the invasion of Poland in 1939, Himmler, Heydrich, and Heinrich Müller masterminded a false flag plan code-named Operation Himmler. It involved a fake attack on the German radio station at Gleiwitz on 31 August 1939. Heydrich masterminded the plan and toured the site, which was about four miles from the Polish border. Wearing Polish uniforms, 150 German troops carried out several attacks along the border. Hitler used the ruse as an excuse to launch his invasion.[85][86]
On Himmler's instructions, Heydrich formed the Einsatzgruppen (task forces) to travel in the wake of the German armies at the start of World War II.[87] On 21 September 1939, Heydrich sent out a teleprinter message on the "Jewish question in the occupied territory" to the chiefs of all Einsatzgruppen with instructions to round up Jewish people for placement into ghettos, called for the formation of Judenräte (Jewish councils), ordered a census, contained Aryanization plans for Jewish-owned businesses and farms, among other measures.[b] The Einsatzgruppen followed the army into Poland to implement the plans. Later, in the Soviet Union, they were charged with rounding up and killing Jews via firing squad and gas vans. By the end of the war, the Einsatzgruppen had murdered over one million people, including over 700,000 in Russia alone.[88]

On 10 October 1941, Heydrich was the senior officer at a meeting in Prague that discussed deporting 50,000 Jews from the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia to ghettos in Minsk and Riga. The officers also discussed taking 5,000 Jews from Prague "in the next few weeks" and handing them over to the Einsatzgruppen commanders Arthur Nebe and Otto Rasch. Establishing ghettos in the Protectorate was also planned, resulting in the construction of Theresienstadt,[91] where 33,000 people would eventually die. Tens of thousands more passed through the camp on their way to their deaths in the East.[92] In 1941 Himmler named Heydrich as "responsible for implementing" the forced movement of 60,000 Jews from Germany and Czechoslovakia to the Lodz (Litzmannstadt) Ghetto in Poland.[93]On 29 November 1939, Heydrich issued a cable about the "Evacuation of New Eastern Provinces", detailing the deportation of people by railway to concentration camps, and giving guidance surrounding the December 1939 census, which would be the basis on which those deportations were performed.[89] In May 1941 Heydrich drew up regulations with Quartermaster general Eduard Wagner for the upcominginvasion of the Soviet Union, which ensured that the Einsatzgruppen and army would cooperate in murdering Soviet Jews.[90]
On 20 January 1942, Heydrich chaired the Wannsee Conference, at which he presented his plan to deport and transport 11 million Jews from every country in Europe, to be worked to death or killed outright in extermination camps:[94][95]

Lidice Memorial-thanks to wiki
Under suitable direction, the Jews should be brought to the East in the course of the Final Solution, for use as labour. In large labour gangs, with the sexes separated, the Jews capable of work will be transported to those areas and set to road-building, in the course of which, without doubt, a large part of them ("ein Großteil") will fall away through natural losses. The surviving remnant, surely those with the greatest powers of resistance, will be given special treatment, since, if freed, they would constitute the germinal cell for the re-creation of Jewry.
— from Heydrich's speech at the Wannsee Conference, January 1942[96]
