A REAL Danger

Thanks to a reader who sent this story--The British papers reported last week that ouija boards were the in present this Christmas. Most articles make fun of the ouija board and deny any spiritual connection.

As someone who has a close friend who was an exorcist for almost forty years and is now retired, I can tell you that he and others, such as Father Chad Ripperger, know from experience that the ouija board is a door to hell.

I have written on this before here..

.Etheldredasplace: Conversations on Conscience Three

I was one line and I saw a pink Ouija board for little girls for sale. I was astounded. The other things I saw were Harry Potter games and Twilight paraphernalia in a toy section of a drug store near things for little girls, like Hello ...

Why these are popular for gifts on the day that Christ, who conquered sin and death, came to us as a baby defies the imagination. Sadly, the secular world scorns any association with demons as psychological influences. Sorry, not true, and an indication of the lack of discernment...the first article's author thinks people are trying to contact the dead. It is not the dead, but damned spirits people contact.

Here are snippets from some newspapers.

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/christmas/gifts/ouija-boards-are-the-musthave-gift-this-christmas-fuelled-by-a-schlock-horror-film-9885749.html

Ouija boards are flying themselves off shelves and under trees this Christmas, according to trends data released by Google. The company has recorded a 300 per cent increase in searches for the spirit-bothering devices, fuelled by a terrible movie that was effectively a feature-length ad for a board game, an appearance on The Archers, and the Victorian belief that if the dead could speak, they would use a plank of a wood and the alphabet.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/retailandconsumer/11251852/Black-Friday-2014-Ouija-boards-are-so-popular-they-could-sell-out-says-Google.html

If you have time, listen to the series on spiritual warfare on Fr. Ripperger's website.

Those people who made the movie may be responsible for the demonic obsession, oppression or even possession of souls. This type of movie is not "neutral", as there is no neutrality in the spiritual world.

And, from an exorcist:

http://www.catholicmessenger.net/2011/05/msgr-mottet-the-dioceses-exorcist-reflects-on-healing-ministry/

Surveys show that the majority of Protestant theologians and roughly 40 percent of Catholic theologians believe that the devil is a figment of the imagination, Msgr. Mottet said. They fail to see that satanic influences — such as satanic cults, Ouija boards and other occult games – are having a devastating impact on young people, the priest said. Break-down of the family and societal mores serve as an invitation to Satan entering people’s lives, he believes.

and

http://www.catholicherald.co.uk/commentandblogs/2014/11/03/playing-with-a-ouija-board-isnt-funny-its-stupid-and-dangerous/

and even some Church of England ministers know the danger....

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2855439/Sales-Ouija-boards-300-threatening-Christmas-buy-despite-Church-England-warning.html

Remember, satan wants you to join him for all eternity in hell and he does not care how you get there.

Why The Church Is Weak Two

I am continuing today on the weakness of the Church from within, concentrating on a selection which I have posted before from Garrigou-Lagrange.

Too many priests, nuns, sisters, laity fight the purification of the predominant fault. Virtues are not released because one is in a prison of the self. Garrigou-Lagrange has this table to help us see and combat sin and vice in our souls.

from Ch22 of "The Three Ages of the Interior Life"  - Fr R. Garrigou-Lagrange, O.P.
Inordinate love of self Pride in regard to self Vain glory, from which come: disobedience, boasting, hypocrisy, contention through rivalry, discord, singularity, stubbornness.
Acedia (sloth), hatred of spiritual things, whence are born: malice, rancor, pusillanimity, discouragement, spiritual torpor, forgetfulness of the precepts, seeking after forbidden things.
in regard to one's neighbour Envy, from which spring: hatred, detraction,
regard calumny, joy at the misfortune of another,
to sadness at his success.
Anger, whence come: disputes, fits of passion, ,
insults, contumely, blasphemy.
Concupiscence of the eye's Avarice, whence proceed: perfidy, fraud, deceit, perjury, itch to acquire and excessive anxiety to keep, harshness, hardness of heart.
of the flesh Gluttony, which engenders: improper jokes, buffoonery, impurity, foolish conversation, stupidity.
Lust, whence proceed: spiritual blindness, poor judgment, impetuosity (of decision), inconstancy, love of self even to hatred of God, attachment to the present life which destroys hope of eternal life.

Virtues Theological Charity toward God and the gift of wisdom disgust for spiritual things
towards one's neighbour and mercy envy, discord, scandal
Hope confidence, abandonment, and the gift of fear, opposed to presumption presumption
despair
Faith and the spirit of faith, and the gifts of understanding and knowledge infidelity, blasphemy, blindness, culpable ignorance
Cardinal Prudence docility to good counsels and the gift of counsel imprudence and negligence, carnal prudence, cunning
Justice and the connected virtues of religion (gift of piety), penance, filial piety, obedience, gratitude, veracity, fidelity, liberality injustice, impiety, superstition, hypocrisy, lying
Fortitude and the gift of fortitude, with magnanimity, patience and perseverance rash boldness, cowardliness, and pusillanimity
Temperance sobriety and chastity, with meekness and humility intemperance, lust, anger, pride and curiosity
Contrary Vices

Before conquering our predominant fault, our virtues are often, to speak more properly, natural good inclinations rather than true and solid virtues that have taken root in us. Prior to victory over this fault, the fountain of graces is not yet adequately opened on our soul, for we still seek ourselves too much and do not live sufficiently for God.

Because of the rise of the occult, witchcraft is increasing, as well as satanism, as we see in the current battle in Oklahoma. These two serious and damning sins come from the table above of seeking out forbidden things.

The laxity of priests not speaking of the dangers of the occult and not addressing the great sin of rebellion, the primordial sin of satan, has created a lax attitude among Catholics regarding the connection between witchcraft and disobedience, witchcraft and lust, and the worst connection, witchcraft and abortion.

Witches sacrifice babies as do satanists. Sorry to bring this up, but anyone one who has spiritual eyes can see this in today's world.

I came across a horrible quotation from one of the original Anglican womynpriests, or priestesses, which clearly shows the connection. Ms. Carter Heyward, one of the Philadelphia Eleven, said this, a direct connection between witchcraft and abortion.

"If women were in charge, abortion would be a sacrament, an occasion of deep and serious and sacred meaning."

I bring this up because I began to notice something about a certain drugstore chain in America in the Midwest. Women in more than one store of this famous chain were sporting tattoos with symbols of wicca. First of all, I moved my pharmaceutical account from that chain. Then, I began to think as to why so many wiccas (I saw about eight) would be hired by this chain in the pharmacy department.

It came to me that these wiccas participate in glorifyimg and encouraging and causing abortions by passing out contraceptives which are abortifacients. They are participating in their horrible sacrament. Do not kid yourselves on this fact. God wanted me to see this in order to understand how prevalent this sin is and how anyone with the predominant fault of pride could fall into such darkness.

If you have any youth in your family messing about with the occult, realize how serious the connected sins are and the underlying predominant fault. Sadly, the above quotation is from a woman who has worked in the Episcopalian church for many years, and who has been highly instrumental in teaching and publishing.

Do not kid yourself as to the horrible danger of Catholics who support the womynpriest movement. One reason why God created the patriarchal, male line of priests was to make a break from the ancient pagan religions and witchcraft which had women "priestesses". To raise men back up to the role and call of Adam is part of the reason for the male priesthood and the fact that the man is the head and priest of his family. Where there is a problem of the woman ruling the house over the man, there could be a predominant fault of pride, and the sin of rebellion in that woman. A long time ago, I saw this in a family, where the woman not only ruled the family and the husband let her, taking a weakness of his and letting it run him. Sadly, one of the boys became a homosexual as a result of this false nurturing. My guess is that this is not unusual.

Neo-paganism may be the fastest growing religion in America. This weakens the Church from within. I would not have to write these types of posts if priests had not stopped preaching on sin and corruption of the soul.

Pray for God to remove all rebellion and pride, lust, greed, gluttony, anger, avarice, sloth from your soul, mind, heart. Pray for the purification of the Dark Night. The Church needs people who know themselves and know God.

The Church needs saints.

This was a difficult post to write. I do not like looking at evil. But, we all must come to this honesty.

to be continued....

Why The Church Is Weak

http://jacheparra.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/sobieski021.jpg
In the past several years, in the perfection series, I have addressed the problem of Catholics not pursuing the highest levels of perfection as not answering the baptismal call to love and service.

I have noted again and again, that egotism and sin stop the process of purification and cause a person to possibly stagnate in the spiritual life, or go backwards, which will happen after some time of stagnation.

Also, in these posts, I have referred to the fact that those who refuse to be purified are not doing good works in the Lord, but only in and for the self.

The one and greatest weakness of the Catholic Church is the multitude of people doing ministries without first being holy.

Without holiness, one is not doing God's work, but merely building up one's own kingdom. Why?

We work out of our predominant faults until we let God in to wrench those out of us. Only in complete detachment from sin and detachment from self can we honestly state we are working in the Will of God. When one's will is finally joined with God's after the purification of the Dark Night, one can work in the Kingdom freely, with and in God, doing what He wants to do.

This problem is obvious in heretical sects, where some people are convinced they are doing God's work, while the entire focus of their ministries is a lie.

If one is truly doing God's work, one would be allowing God to purify one's mind, soul, and body, leading to a conversion to the Catholic Church.

This was the way of Blessed Cardinal Newman and Henry Cardinal Manning. This was the way of St. Augustine, St. Francis and St. Ignatius, all converted once, and then converted in the second conversion to follow the path of purification and allow God to live in them.

St. Paul writes this, showing us he understood and lived the life of perfection:

Galatians 2:19-21 DR

19 For I, through the law, am dead to the law, that I may live to God: with Christ I am nailed to the cross.
20 And I live, now not I; but Christ liveth in me. And that I live now in the flesh: I live in the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered himself for me.
21 I cast not away the grace of God. For if justice be by the law, then Christ died in vain.

The Church is weak because people stop allowing God to purify the soul, the mind, the imagination.

This accounts for the number of weak priests, weak teachers, and weak parents.

I was thinking earlier today of three departments within a chancery office with which I was familiar in times past. In that department, some of the women were contracepting, believed in women priests, and divorce and remarriage without annulments. Some believed in same sex marriage.

They were not only living in mortal sin, but heretics. Now, that so many people in one chancery office were not "practicing" their faith weakened the Church from within. Bad decisions were being made, poor policies, and people were being taught fallacies.

If that diocese hired people who were committed to being saints, the diocese would have been in a stronger position.

The Church is not only weakened from within by bad or lax priests who are not pursuing holiness, but by thousands of lay Catholics who are content with their lives of compromise and errors.

Holy Mother Church suffers because of disobedience. The same scenario happens in convents, monasteries, retreat houses across the world, where the inhabitants live in serious sin, and do not even see the danger of habitual venial sin. I think of retreat houses wherein New Age heresies are taught.

Until Catholics realize that personal holiness is the only way the Church can be strong and effective in the world, we shall witness the weakness of the Church Militant.

No Such Thing as Spiritually Neutral

One of the best things I learned from a spiritual director a long time ago is this truism.

In the spiritual world, there is no such thing as neutrality.

The spiritual world is made up of the good and the bad.

Neutrality is, simply, a convenient lie.

Here is a man sadly caught up in several lies. You can read about him here.

The Catholic Church thankfully clarified for all of us the evils of TM and any type of meditation which omits Christ, as well as other New Age deceits.

Here is one document: Cardinal J. Ratzinger, Letter to the Bishops of the Catholic Church on Some Aspects of Christian Meditation, Oct. 15, 1989

http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_19891015_meditazione-cristiana_en.html

In this document, Cardinal Ratzinger wrote this:

1. Many Christians today have a keen desire to learn how to experience a deeper and authentic prayer life despite the not inconsiderable difficulties which modern culture places in the way of the need for silence, recollection and meditation. The interest which in recent years has been awakened also among some Christians by forms of meditation associated with some eastern religions and their particular methods of prayer is a significant sign of this need for spiritual recollection and a deep contact with the divine mystery. Nevertheless, faced with this phenomenon, many feel the need for sure criteria of a doctrinal and pastoral character which might allow them to instruct others in prayer, in its numerous manifestations, while remaining faithful to the truth revealed in Jesus, by means of the genuine Tradition of the Church. This present letter seeks to reply to this urgent need, so that in the various particular Churches, the many different forms of prayer, including new ones, may never lose their correct personal and communitarian nature.

In combating the errors of pseudognosticism8 the Fathers affirmed that matter is created by God and as such is not evil. Moreover, they maintained that grace, which always has the Holy Spirit as its source is not a good proper to the soul, but must be sought from God as a gift. Consequently, the illumination or superior knowledge of the Spirit ("gnosis"), does not make Christian faith something superfluous. Finally, for the Fathers, the authentic sign of a superior knowledge, the fruit of prayer, is always Christian love.
9. If the perfection of Christian prayer cannot be evaluated using the sublimity of gnostic knowledge as a basis, neither can it be judged by referring to the experience of the divine, as Messalianismproposed.9 These false fourth century charismatics identified the grace of the Holy Spirit with the psychological experience of his presence in the soul. In opposing them, the Fathers insisted on the fact that the soul's union with God in prayer is realized in a mysterious way, and in particular through the sacraments of the Church. Moreover, it can even be achieved through experiences of affliction or desolation. Contrary to the view of the Messalians, these are not necessarily a sign that the Spirit has abandoned a soul. Rather, as masters of spirituality have always clearly acknowledged, they may be an authentic participation in the state of abandonment experienced on the cross by Our Lord, who always remains the model and mediator of prayer.10

10. Both of these forms of error continue to be a temptation for man the sinner. They incite him to try and overcome the distance separating creature from Creator, as though there ought not to be such a distance; to consider the way of Christ on earth, by which he wishes to lead us to the Father, as something now surpassed; to bring down to the level of natural psychology what has been regarded as pure grace, considering it instead as "superior knowledge" or as "experience."
Such erroneous forms, having reappeared in history from time to time on the fringes of the Church's prayer, seem once more to impress many Christians, appealing to them as a kind of remedy, be it psychological or spiritual, or as a quick way of finding God.11

and footnotes..............but I suggest reading the entire document.

12. Pope John Paul II has pointed out to the whole Church the example and the doctrine of St. Teresa of Avila who in her life had to reject the temptation of certain methods which proposed a leaving aside of the humanity of Christ in favor of a vague self-immersion in the abyss of the divinity. In a homily given on November 1st, 1982, he said that the call of Teresa of Jesus advocating a prayer completely centered on Christ "is valid, even in our day, against some methods of prayer which are not inspired by the Gospel and which in practice tend to set Christ aside in preference for a mental void which makes no sense in Christianity. Any method of prayer is valid insofar as it is inspired by Christ and leads to Christ who is the Way, the Truth and the Life (cf. Jn 14:6)." See:Homilia Abulae habita in honorem Sanctae Teresiae: AAS 75 (1983), 256-257.

1. The expression "eastern methods" is used to refer to methods which are inspired by Hinduism and Buddhism, such as "Zen," "Transcendental Meditation" or "Yoga." Thus it indicates methods of meditation of the non-Christian Far East which today are not infrequently adopted by some Christians also in their meditation. The orientation of the principles and methods contained in this present document is intended to serve as a reference point not just for this problem, but also, in a more general way, for the different forms of prayer practiced nowadays in ecclesial organizations, particularly in associations, movements and groups.

One can also look again at...again, Dominus Iesus.

http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/pontifical_councils/interelg/documents/rc_pc_interelg_doc_20030203_new-age_en.html

Power comes either from God, the Trinity, through the Holy Spirit, or from the evil one. Period.

Those who claim that a spiritual world is out there which gives power and is neutral live in self-deception.

Yet another blog on doors to the demonic

The great Blessed Columba Marmion wrote that when the Three Kings came to Christ, the idolatry of demons ended, as the beginning of the Reign of Christ showed the world who was really God. Marmion noted that the paganism of the old world, which in most cases was demonic, came to a end. But, in recent times, people have chosen to revisit the demonic on purpose. They have chosen the old demon-idols of the past, an action, a choice, which is spiritual death, as getting into the occult is a serious mortal sin.

The ignorance of the past is gone.

Sadly, in Great Britain, I have never heard the types of talks or read books by British Catholic exorcists, which help the average lay person with discernment. These comments come out of a conversation with a dear British friend of mine who wanted more clarification on his kids' games.

Thankfully, most exorcists I have had the privilege to speak with or, at least, read their books are in agreement about certain doors to the demonic. Some of these doors are being discussed at meetings and training centers for exorcists.

Thankfully, again, these doors do not have to be open.

Here are a list of the main doors which many youth and older people open and then become either obsessed, oppressed, or even possessed by demonic activity.

The first one is obvious-the Ouija board. This is a direct door to the occult. So is Dungeons and Dragons and World of Warcraft. Demons are chained to particular elements and symbols and when the door is open, they enter into a person or situation.

If a person has a proclivity to lust, the game may weakened the will, and even cause further oppression from a spirit of lust, but the direct door is different.

Such things as suicidal and death desires can come into a person by playing these games, as well as a blunting of discernment. Other demonic influences can result as well.

Some types of demonic activity is locked into families and these locks must be broken.

Creators of certain games which are direct doors either wanted to spread the occult or were just plain malicious, or wanted to become very wealthy.

Listen to the fssp priests on this. I have listened to several talks now, although I knew D and D was bad even as a board game way back in 1983. And, I knew WoW was also a door when I first came across it in 2007.

Not all computer games are doors to the demonic world, but some are. Most are addictive, however, which is another problem. Some cause violent feelings and weaken boundaries, but that is another problem

If your children are engaged in the above mentioned, please use your authority as a parent to deal with these.

A Warning Long Overdue

Arthur Conan Doyle, famous spiritualist, thanks to wiki
Time for an honest appraisal of the roots of a popular pseudo-scientific method. I shall give the occult backgrounds first.

The founder was involved in spiritualism, one of the most serious of mortal sins. Coming from a Protestant background, he became involved in the movement which believed that spirits of the dead could and should be contacted for advice and comfort.

This is the heinous sin of necromancy. Sadly, in the States and in England, Anglican and other Protestants, including Quakers, became interested in this occult tool. The founder of the pseudo-science was one of these men who experimented with contacting the dead. He attended regular meetings of the local spiritualist society.

He also wrote a book stating that he received his method of healing from a dead person. Here is his statement.

"The knowledge and philosophy given me by Dr. Jim Atkinson, an intelligent spiritual being, together with explanations of phenomena, principles resolved from causes, effects, powers, laws and utility, appealed to my reason. The method by which I obtained an explanation of certain physical phenomena, from an intelligence in the spiritual world, is known in biblical language as inspiration. In a great measure The Chiropractor's Adjuster was written under such spiritual promptings." (p. 5)"

In a May 4th 1911 letter, D. D. wrote this:

"... we must have a religious head, one who is the founder, as did Christ, Mohamed, Jo. Smith, Mrs. Eddy, Martin Luther and other who have founded religions. I am the fountain head. I am the founder of chiropractic in its science, in its art, in its philosophy and in its religious phase."[8]

In his 1914 book, the first chapter expanded on his religious views of chiropractic: "The Moral and Religious Duty of a Chiropractor".[11] In it he dealt with religious liberty and stated:
"... nor interfere with the religious duty of chiropractors, a privilege already conferred upon them. It now becomes us as chiropractors to assert our religious rights." (p. 1)
"The practice of chiropractic involves a moral obligation and a religious duty." (p. 2)

wiki references and footnotes to original texts...........

He also believed in the false idea of "innate intelligence" in the body, and that this was connected to an impersonal God of innate intelligence in the universe. One can see how far D. D. moved away from Christianity.
http://www.letusreason.org/NAM33.htm

Now you know of whom I speak, D.D. Palmer, the founder of chiropractic methods. His son, B.J. Palmer was also heavily involved in the occult, which I found out as a very young child. From early on, I refused to go to one, and would try to talk others out of this method. Roots run deep and Catholics have deceived themselves as to the evil of this method.

When I was very young, the college had an exhibit and a garden of items collected by B. J. These items included statues of Buddha, bodishattvas, which are Buddhist "saints" but really incarnated images of demons, talismans from every possible Eastern religion, and the worst thing, a Shinto Gateway. This gateway is a door to the spirit world which I sensed at the age of nine. My dad asked us all one day if we wanted to go into the gardens at the college, as we were out visiting something in the area. I said no, I did not want to go there, as even across the street, I knew something was wrong with the gateway.

My father honored my concerns and we did not go into the gardens, which are now gone. It was called a Little Bit O'Heaven and here is a description of it, and the ideals behind it which should make one's skin crawl..

For many years A Little Bit O' Heaven was the most popular tourist attraction in Davenport. A guidebook produced by the Palmer School claims that the garden directly inspired numerous home hobbyist to take up the trowel and build their own rock gardens, but one wonders if part of its popularity was also the esoteric drama of its world-spanning exotica. With B.J. scouring the globe for the ripest fruits of wisdom and artistic endeavor, the visitor could understand how chiropractic medicine tapped into deeper beliefs than the simplistic notions of mechanistic modern medicine. Was a man simply a pile of disconnected bones and tissue? Or was he an outpouring of innate and inborn emotion and desires from some central core? Here at A Little Bit O' Heaven the visitor could contemplate the strange and perhaps a bit frightening from around the world while in an informal and stimulating garden setting. Here live alligators, grimacing idols and taboo icons of fertility cults relaxed among the foliage with classical statuary and uplifting inspirational aphorisms painted on the walls. In this small recreation of Heaven on Earth, the Dionysian and Apollonian were united in a vision of health and happiness for all pilgrims to see in practice.

The Shinto Gateway is not merely a gateway to a shrine, but a door to the spirit world. One of my university professors years ago explained that on one side of the gate were the living and on the other side, the dead.

Of course, the Palmers would be interested in such a gate, and even as a child, baptized and in sanctifying grace, I could sense the demon spirits on the other side. That this type of thing was treated so cavalierly by too many Catholics has puzzled me over the years. And idolatry was practiced on the spot for years.

Though it is impossible to see from outside the gate, the ancient Wishing Buddha is still there today. Inside the shelter is a 1100-yr old Japanese bronze buddha, at 10 feet high and 3-tons one of the largest buddhas in the U.S. One story about its purchase says that when B.J. purchased the statue in 1927 the Japanese government attempted to block its removal. B.J. persuaded the officials by assuring them that the statue would be given proper respect, and indeed for many years incense was burned 24 hours a day in its honor, perhaps up until the garden was dismantled. http://www.mnmuseumofthems.org/Grotto/Heaven3.html

I cannot show you the torii gate but it is seen on this link,  on this copyrighted site, for skeptics.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torii
Remember, there is no neutral territory. The torii gate is not neutral and the so-called deities of the Shinto religion are not gods but demons, which is rather ironic, as some followers believe that one must exorcise demons. That would be impossible, as only Catholic exorcists can do this and demons cannot cast out demons. However, they can and do lie.

I write this just a few miles from the college which has trained thousands of so-called doctors, whose own method is based on occultist beliefs which have no bearing to real science. I write this as I have known this for 56 years, and have been waiting for any Catholic to write against this cult. None have. None will. There is too much money and corruption in the system. Pray for those who cannot see that the roots of something indicate that the philosophy of the entire scheme is spiritually flawed. Some things just cannot be "baptized."

Sadly, some people see spiritualism as a hoax, which is can be. But, it can and is mostly one of the deadliest mortal sins of all. Check this site out for someone who does not understand the real evil but a person who discovered more on D.D. real involvement with the occult..

Here is the CCC on divination:

Divination and magic
2115 God can reveal the future to his prophets or to other saints. Still, a sound Christian attitude consists in putting oneself confidently into the hands of Providence for whatever concerns the future, and giving up all unhealthy curiosity about it. Improvidence, however, can constitute a lack of responsibility.

2116 All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to "unveil" the future.48 Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.

2117 All practices of magic or sorcery, by which one attempts to tame occult powers, so as to place them at one's service and have a supernatural power over others - even if this were for the sake of restoring their health - are gravely contrary to the virtue of religion. These practices are even more to be condemned when accompanied by the intention of harming someone, or when they have recourse to the intervention of demons. Wearing charms is also reprehensible. Spiritism often implies divination or magical practices; the Church for her part warns the faithful against it. Recourse to so-called traditional cures does not justify either the invocation of evil powers or the exploitation of another's credulity.

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.
