So you do not think we are heading for the time of the Antichrist?

Bishop Faces 3 Years in Prison for Biblical Based Hate Speech

By Deacon Keithe Fournier, The Stream:

In the politically charged language of the present, Bishop Vitus Huonder is a “conservative” if not an “extremist.” In fact, he is simply a faithful Catholic Christian. And for that he’s being threatened with three years in jail. It’s happening in Switzerland, but the conflict epitomizes a wider phenomenon of anti-Christian secularists on both sides of the Atlantic using the courts to target Christians for simply standing up for biblical truth.

Bishop Vitus Huonder, Switzerland

In 2011, Huonder, the Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Chur in Switzerland, supported parents being able to opt out of having children as young as four subjected to mandatory “sex education” which rejected the truth about the dignity of human sexuality, the gift of sexual differentiation, and marriage. In 2013, he issued a pastoral letter to the faithful under his care exposing unbiblical gender identity theories and defending the Christian vision of the human person, the family and a truly just and human social order. He called upon the faithful of the Catholic Church to “use their social rights” to protect “the dignity of man founded on the order of Creation and of Redemption.” Last February, he called for a Swiss priest who had purportedly “blessed” the union of a lesbian couple to step down from his ministry.

Here is the challenge he faces. In Switzerland, there is a wholesale rebellion against the Christian vision of the human person, and of the family and society founded upon it. Leaders of the rebellion abhor the clear and unchangeable teaching of the Bible and the Catholic Church. Included in the ranks of these dissidents are some Catholic clerics. To say their leaders do not like this Catholic Bishop is an understatement.

Now, this bishop is the subject of a criminal complaint filed against him by a homosexual group called “The Pink Cross” for violating Article 259 0f the Swiss Penal Code entitled “Public incitement to commit a felony or act of violence.” The bishop faces up to three years in jail if convicted.

The bishop had crossed a “red line,” said the head of Pink Cross, in a statement reported by Newsweek. “We believe in freedom of expression, and taking quotes from the bible is fine. But then he said the words should be applied to real life, which is the equivalent of calling for the death penalty for gay people. We were worried about that. He is the leader of a big church, and he was calling for people to follow his words, and we thought this could be dangerous.”
Here is What Really Happened

On Friday, July 31, 2015, the bishop spoke at a symposium in Fulda, Germany, entitled “Marriage: Gift, Sacrament and Commission.” In the context of explaining the background of the Christian moral teaching, he referenced two passages from Leviticus (Lev. 18:22, 20:13). He used them as examples of Scripture’s rejection of same-sex relationships and proof that same-sex marriages were an attack on creation.

“There is no plurality of models for marriage and family,” he told the conference. “To even speak of such is already an attack on the Creator, as well as on the Savior and Sanctifier, that is, on the trinitarian God.”

In the presentation the bishop had also explained that “pastoral care must orient itself according to the divine order. Its mission, undertaken in awareness of the salvation of souls, that is, in pastoral love … is to free mankind from the condition of a fallen nature and raise it to life as children of light.”

Showing pastoral care for those who struggle with same-sex attraction, he said, “The Faith is to everyone, even to those with homophile tendencies, a source of comfort and can lead to a redirection of such an orientation, to a governing of sexual urges, and to an ordering of one’s own life according to the divine command.”

Because the second half of the second passage instructed Israel to put to death people who have sexual relations with someone of their own sex, Pink Cross claimed that Bishop Huonder was sowing hatred and inciting violence against homosexual people. He violated both German and Swiss law, they declared, as well as the European Convention on Human Rights.

It should have been obvious to anyone why he quoted those two passages and that he did not endorse the execution of homosexual people. That didn’t matter to Pink Cross, who saw a chance to attack a major Christian figure for his defense of marriage.

The bishop responded to the protests with a statement stressing that he was not endorsing violence against homosexual people. “During the lecture I quoted several uncomfortable passages from the Old Testament to do with marriage, sexuality and family,” he said. “I want to clarify that I would in no way wish to diminish homosexual people.”

The head of Pink Cross rejected the response: “There is no question in this case of what he was talking about — there was no misunderstanding. We don’t need charity or mercy from the Church at all; we don’t accept his apology.”

Merely Catholic

The Bishop simply expressed the teaching of the Catholic Church he serves. He cited the pertinent sections of the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church (2357–2359). The actions of the homosexual activists who filed this spurious criminal complaint is one more sign of growing efforts to use the police power to prevent the Church from proclaiming the message of true liberation in Jesus Christ.

The homosexual extremist group bringing this charge misused a passing reference to Leviticus in a scurrilous effort to argue that Bishop Huonder called for the death penalty against self-professing homosexuals. That claim was not only false, it is slanderous and defamatory. Because it has been leveled publicly, it should be exposed, opposed and confronted publicly.

The statute used as the basis of this criminal complaint deals with hate crimes. Pink Cross is essentially charging that the faithful proclamation of the Gospel message about sexuality and marriage is a hate crime. American Christians should watch this case closely. And pray for the brave Bishop Hounder.

On Tempting God

John 3:18 Douay-Rheims

18  He that believeth in him is not judged. But he that doth not believe, is already judged: because he believeth not in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

When the Three Angels of God visited Abraham, we know from Tradition, that these Angels, were manifestations of the Trinity. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit visited Abraham and Sarah.

Then, these Three Angels "split",but not really, as the Trinity never "splits" and even the Incarnated Christ remained in and with the Trinity--Three Persons in One God--when on earth 2,000 years after this event. At this point in history, about 2000 B.C., God the Father stayed with Abraham,  who entered into bargaining with the Father regarding the imminent destruction of the Five Cities , (only four were actually destroyed).

God the Son and God the Holy Spirit moved on to Sodom and Gomorrah and witnessed, while on earth in some mysterious way, the tremendous evil of those cities. That God the Son and God the Spirit were so beautiful meant that those evil homosexuals wanted to have relations with them, which Lot halted.

In the end, the cities were destroyed after the Angels told Lot and his family to leave NOW.

Meditating on this visit of the Trinity to Abraham and Sarah, I was reminded today of several things.

First, Abraham, as a man of faith, "walked with God". His relationship with God was a foreshadowing of our own possible intimate relationship with Him.

Second, Abraham could intercede, but the evil was so overwhelming, that the logical consequence had to overcome intercessory prayer. God was "fed up" with such evil.

Third, the Son of God judged the cities, while the Holy Spirit inspired Lot to leave, but these two Persons of the Trinity brought down the destruction of evil not only as punishment, but as judgment.

Four, this thought led me to ask, "Why Christ, and why the Holy Spirit?"

Answer, Christ is the Judge, the King of the Universe, the Holy God-Man, Who alone is given the power, authority and judgment over all inhabitants of the earth. He not only pleads for us, but also judges us.

The Holy Spirit is not only the Comforter, but the Counselor. Those in the four destroyed cities ignored His counsel.  Ignored graces result in judgment.

Sin is ultimate selfishness. Sin creates narcissism. Sin isolates one from the Family of God, the Chosen People. Sin denies responsibility for others. Sin kills charity.

The Holy Spirit could have been poured out on Sodom and Gomorrah, if the inhabitants were open; but they were not. They even tempted God,by wanting to be gods, following their own wills, having their own laws of lawlessness.

This is what is happening in our country. People who want to pass ssm are tempting God. He will not be tempted, and He will not be mocked.

Where are the noble voices calling us to courage and charity? Where are the noble voices calling us to fasting and prayer? The Holy Spirit desires all men and women to be saved and desires to pour out His gifts upon the world.

St. Teresa of Avila noted this lack of courage in her autobiography: "Alas, alas! No longer are there any who men account mad because they see them perform the deeds proper to true lovers of Christ."

Sodom said "No" and mocked God. Gomorrah said "No" and mocked God.  Admah said "No" and Zebolim said "No".

Lot and His Daughters by Albrecht Durer

Zoar alone remained and to there, Lot went with his two daughters. Remember, Lot's wife turned back and was destroyed, and the two son-in-laws refused to follow Lot and were destroyed.

Within two weeks, America will agree to become Sodom and Gomorrah. Some people will be like Abraham with God the Father and bargain with God, interceding for the nation. Some people will be like Lot with God the Son, and protect Christ and His Church from harm. Some will listen, like the daughters of Lot, to the Holy Spirit, and follow the right path.

Most Catholics will not and many will perish, because they shall compromise in fear, or just deciding to not believe in the teachings of God, as clarified through His Church.

Do not tempt God.

Poll Alert

Note the new poll at the side. When I was in England in 2013 at the time running up to the passing of ssm, and the actual vote, (see my posts on that), everyday, at every Mass in my parish there, the pastor spoke against this. Have you heard any sermons on the coming SCOTUS vote?

The poll has to do with words FROM A PULPIT!

From LifeSite News

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/supreme-court-allows-judges-ruling-striking-down-oregons-marriage-protectio

The Supreme Court is hearing cases from four states – Michican, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee – on April 28. The hearing could lead to a definitive legal ruling from the nation's highest court. One of the big questions the High Court may choose to answer is whether states are allowed to independently define marriage, which could allow Oregon's law to stand.

Here we go...from LifeSiteNews

Public records show that Rick Estridge, Catholic Relief Services’ Vice President of Overseas Finance, who has worked for the U.S. Bishops’ official international humanitarian agency since as long ago as 2001, “married” his homosexual partner in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 4, 2013.
The Lepanto Institute obtained thepublic marriage record from the City of Baltimore for Estridge and William Goretsas, Jr. The document confirmed the homosexual “marriage,” which took place the same month that Estridge was promoted by CRS to a vice president role, according to Estridge’s LinkedIn profile.

Notes on Cardinal George

Many years ago, before Fr. Z., posted this on his blog as a daily read, I heard this quotation from someone in Chicago I knew who was living there and involved in the Church.

“I expect to die in bed, my successor will die in prison and his successor will die a martyr in the public square. His successor will pick up the shards of a ruined society and slowly help rebuild civilization, as the Church has done so often in human history.”

By the time Cardinal George, RIP, said this, I was already writing on both of my blogs about persecution. To have a highly respected and major Churchman underscore my perceptions made me sure of my own sense of things-confirmation, in other words.

We are down to the successor dying in prison now... and things will happen very quickly.

For me, the turning point regarding Cardinal George was way back in 2002, when my son and I were watching the USCCB meeting on sexual abuse cases. This was live on tv in Canada where we were living. At that time, Bishop Wilton D. Gregory, was rude to both George and Bishop Fabian Brusketwiz of Lincoln, Neb. as they were asking for a real examination of the role of homosexual priests in the sexual abuse cases. Bishop Gregory told them to shut up and sit down that the issue would not be discussed and had nothing to do with sexual abuse cases.  The two brave bishops tried several times and were dismissed rudely.

watched it happen and was shocked, but then realized, the Church at the very top was divided on the gay issue. I said to my son, then 14, that this was the state of the members of the hierarchy in 2002. He went into the seminary with his eyes open.

The fact that Bishop Wilton was so rude to Cardinal George astounded me and proved what I had accepted earlier, that the bishops in America were not willing to discuss homosexuality among the clergy. This is still a problem and not only in America. Some shield their priests. Some, most likely, are gay.

Cardinal George and Bishop Brusketwiz's courage in standing up against the majority feeling at the USCCB meeting gives authority to his famous saying above. He had already experienced persecution and rejection among his own brother-bishops.

His famous quotation comes out of his own striving for truth and from his own suffering. Sadly, he inherited a huge problem from his predecessor, Cardinal Bernadine.  More on this later...

Pray for Cardinal George. Pray for the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Abraham did not live in Sodom, but his nephew Lot did.

Lot had to flee Sodom. Abraham, of course, did not.

A Vocation To Fail

The Lamentations of Jeremiah
wiki
Latin text
(from the Clementine Vulgate)
Chapter 1
1:1 ALEPH. Quomodo sedet sola civitas plena populo! Facta est quasi vidua domina gentium; princeps provinciarum facta est sub tributo.
1:2 BETH.
1:5 HE.
1:10 IOD. Manum suam misit hostis ad omnia desiderabilia ejus, quia vidit gentes ingressas sanctuarium suum, de quibus præceperas ne intrarent in ecclesiam tuam.
1:11 CAPH.
1:13 MEM. De excelso misit ignem in ossibus meis et erudivit me: expandit rete pedibus meis: convertit me retrorsum: posuit me desolatam tota die maerore confectam.
 English translation
Chapter 1
1:1 ALEPH. How lonely sits the city that was full of people! How like a widow has she become, she that was great among the nations! She that was a princess among the cities has become a vassal.
1:2 BETH. She weeps bitterly in the night, tears on her cheeks; among all her lovers she has none to comfort her; all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they have become her enemies.
1:3 GHIMEL. Judah has gone into exile because of affliction and hard servitude; she dwells now among the nations, but finds no resting place; her pursuers have all overtaken her in the midst of her distress.
1:4 DALETH. The roads to Zion mourn, for none come to the appointed feasts; all her gates are desolate, her priests groan; her maidens have been dragged away, and she herself suffers bitterly.
1:5 HE. Her foes have become the head, her enemies prosper, because the Lord has made her suffer for the multitude of her transgressions; her children have gone away, captives before the foe.
1:6 VAU. From the daughter of Zion has departed all her majesty. Her princes have become like harts that find no pasture; they fled without strength before the pursuer.
1:7 ZAIN. Jerusalem remembers in the days of her affliction and bitterness all the precious things that were hers from days of old. When her people fell into the hand of the foe, and there was none to help her, the foe gloated over her, mocking at her downfall.
1:8 HETH. Jerusalem sinned grievously, therefore she became filthy; all who honored her despise her, for they have seen her nakedness; yea, she herself groans, and turns her face away.
1:9 Her uncleanness was in her skirts; she took no thought of her doom; therefore her fall is terrible, she has no comforter. "O Lord, behold my affliction, for the enemy has triumphed!"
1:10 IOD. The enemy has stretched out his hands over all her precious things; yea, she has seen the nations invade her sanctuary, those whom thou didst forbid to enter thy congregation.
1:11 CAPH. All her people groan as they search for bread; they trade their treasures for food to revive their strength. "Look, O Lord, and behold, for I am despised."
1:12 LAMED. "Is it nothing to you, all you who pass by? Look and see if there is any sorrow like my sorrow which was brought upon me, which the Lord inflicted on the day of his fierce anger."
1:13 MEM. "From on high he sent fire; into my bones he made it descend; he spread a net for my feet; he turned me back; he has left me stunned, faint all the day long.
Chapter 2
2:8 HETH.
2:10 IOD. Sederunt in terra, conticuerunt senes filiæ Sion; consperserunt cinere capita sua, accincti sunt ciliciis: abjecerunt in terram capita sua virgines Jerusalem.
2:11 CAPH. Defecerunt præ lacrimis oculi mei, conturbata sunt viscera mea; effusum est in terra jecur meum super contritione filiæ populi mei, cum deficeret parvulus et lactens in plateis oppidi.
2:12 LAMED.
Chapter 2
2:8 HETH. The Lord determined to lay in ruins the wall of the daughter of Zion; he marked it off by the line; he restrained not his hand from destroying; he caused rampart and wall to lament, they languish together.
2:9 TETH. Her gates have sunk into the ground; he has ruined and broken her bars; her king and princes are among the nations; the law is no more, and her prophets obtain no vision from the Lord.
2:10 IOD. The elders of the daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have cast dust on their heads and put on sackcloth; the maidens of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.
2:11 CAPH. My eyes are spent with weeping; my soul is in tumult; my heart is poured out in grief because of the destruction of the daughter of my people, because infants and babes faint in the streets of the city.
2:12 LAMED. They cry to their mothers, "Where is bread and wine?" as they faint like wounded men in the streets of the city, as their life is poured out on their mothers' bosom.
2:13 MEM. What can I say for you, to what compare you, O daughter of Jerusalem? What can I liken to you, that I may comfort you, O virgin daughter of Zion? For vast as the sea is your ruin; who can restore you?
2:14 NUN. Your prophets have seen for you false and deceptive visions; they have not exposed your iniquity to restore your fortunes, but have seen for you oracles false and misleading.
Chapter 3
3:1 ALEPH. Ego vir videns paupertatem meam in virga indignationis ejus.
3:2 ALEPH.
3:3 ALEPH. Tantum in me vertit et convertit manum suam tota die.
3:4 BETH. Vetustam fecit pellem meam et carnem meam; contrivit ossa mea.
3:22 HETH. Misericordiæ Domini, quia non sumus consumpti; quia non defecerunt miserationes ejus.
3:23 HETH. Novi diluculo, multa est fides tua.
3:24 HETH. Pars mea Dominus, dixit anima mea; propterea exspectabo eum.
3:25 TETH. Bonus est Dominus sperantibus in eum, animæ quærenti illum.
3:26 TETH. Bonum est præstolari cum silentio salutare Dei.
3:27 TETH.
Chapter 3
3:1 ALEPH. I am the man who has seen affliction under the rod of his wrath;
3:2 ALEPH. he has driven and brought me into darkness without any light;
3:3 ALEPH. surely against me he turns his hand again and again the whole day long.
3:4 BETH. He has made my flesh and my skin waste away, and broken my bones;
3:22 HETH. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end;
3:23 HETH. they are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.
3:24 HETH. "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him."
3:25 TETH. The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him.
3:26 TETH. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.
3:27 TETH. It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
Chapter 4
4:1 ALEPH.
4:2 BETH. Filii Sion inclyti, et amicti auro primo: quomodo reputati sunt in vasa testea, opus manuum figuli!
4:3 GHIMEL. Sed et lamiæ nudaverunt mammam, lactaverunt catulos suos: filia populi mei crudelis quasi struthio in deserto.
Chapter 4
4:1 ALEPH. How the gold has grown dim, how the pure gold is changed! The holy stones lie scattered at the head of every street.
4:2 BETH. The precious sons of Zion, worth their weight in fine gold, how they are reckoned as earthen pots, the work of a potter's hands!
4:3 GHIMEL. Even the jackals give the breast and suckle their young, but the daughter of my people has become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.
Chapter 5
5:4 Aquam nostram pecunia bibimus; ligna nostra pretio comparavimus.
5:5 Cervicibus nostris minabamur, lassis non dabatur requies.
Chapter 5
5:1 Remember, O Lord, what has befallen us; behold, and see our disgrace!
5:2 Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, our homes to aliens.
5:3 We have become orphans, fatherless; our mothers are like widows.
5:4 We must pay for the water we drink, the wood we get must be bought.
5:5 With a yoke on our necks we are hard driven; we are weary, we are given no rest.

Yesterday, I came across several groups of people who are acting as if the world was the same as in 1970. These people refuse to acknowledge the changing situation in Europe and are making plans for elaborate vacations in areas which are not safe.

Thankfully, one of my best friends, who for reasons of work, has gone to Europe yearly since 1965, decided not to go this year because of the dangerous and volatile situations in France, England, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Serious problems happened in Sweden recently as well.

Those who think that Europe is not now experiencing the true beginnings of jihad are purposefully being stupid.

I cannot explain to Americans enough that the NWO is underway and the unleashing of terrorism in Europe is part of the plan.

Is it arrogance which makes American refuse to look at the truth and seriousness of the changes abroad? What causes willful stupidity?

A few days ago I wrote that God has let the devil off the lead for a while. This is to punish us for the sins of the nations.

There are four sins which cry out to God for vengeance. If the fourth one is made legal in America in May or June through the Supreme Court, God will not ignore the evil of the other three: willful murder, the sin of Sodom, oppression of the poor, and defrauding laborers of their wages, CCC 1867.

I have written of these on this blog for years and years.

Willful murder is abortion; oppression of the poor is gross consumerism and socialism, which take away the dignity of the poor; derfrauding laborers of their wages is paying maids and nannies seven dollars an hour, and not taking care of those who are the working poor because one does not want to be identified with the poor. Widows and orphans are ignored even by Catholics. These sins are committed daily in the United States.

Sodomy will be enshrined in law after May or June.

Do Americans honestly think that God will not respond in justice, He Who is Justice?

Do Americans not see the pattern of violence in the world as a just punishment on Christians who have compromised the Gospel?

Willful stupidity cannot be excused. God created us as rational beings. We are responsible to know the signs of the times, to repent, to help others repent.

On a bright sunny day in May of 1972, God called me "Jeremiah".  I did not want to be a Jeremiah. He brought to my mind the passage from the book by this prophet of his call. To be a prophet is not to tell the future, but to bring people to repentance. I was very young and complained to God. He told me age had nothing to do with the vocation of the prophet.

Prophets desire to bring souls to God.

I have tried to do this in the perfection series.

I have tried to do this with the call to podding and community.

I have tried to do this by revealing real news.

I have tried to do this by referring to the daily readings and the Divine Office, which always speak to the times.

I wrote novellas laced with visions and poetry laced with the love of the Bridegroom.

God made me unafraid, free to go and say what He told me to say, and allowed me to endure suffering.

All these are graces. These are calls for the Church in America more than in any other country of the world as the States are so wealthy. I am losing patience with willful stupidity.

One feels the words of God in one's body when one is a prophet. It is hard to explain. One feels the agony of Christ in Gethsemane, looking at the sins of the people who refuse to accept God's love.

I was a prophet in the classroom, as my students recognized. From 2003 on, I introduced my students to the fact that they would make up the age of martyrs. Some listened. Some did not.

The one thing about being a prophet is that one knows one is going to fail. Being a failure is part of the vocation of the prophet.

Someone phoned me yesterday and said that on some talk show, they heard a man say all what I had been saying for a long time about the passing of ssm in America-no clergyman, no churchs in some areas, schism.

People will look for priests and churches and there will be none.

From the beginning of my blog in January of 2007, until the inauguration speech in 2009 of the president's first term, I warned people of the evil of this choice. I failed miserably pointing out the anti-life record, the Chicago Alinksy connections, and the connection to violent Black Liberation Theology, with its hatred of the Jews.

I failed.

I have failed again and again in moving people to become saints, as the only changes which will come politically must come from changes of hearts. Without repentance, politics mean nothing.

Today, I lament at this failure and look at my own sin and faults as contributing to this failure.

Lament, Americans, do penance. My words are coming to an end. Lamentations I and II by Thomas Tallis, which I last heard in person in England so long ago. I am already in exile.

Je heterosexuallly marié

OK, I am rebelling against the media glut about ssm. Today, on this blog, I want all the readers who are married, or widowed, or engaged, to write in and tell the world through this blog how wonderful and good heterosexual marriage is and why.

Write in the combox and let us drown out the sentences of sin. I am sick of this coverage, aren't you?

Slavery of the Will; Freedom of the Will Part Eleven

All of us have been predestined for a place in heaven. As I noted in the previous posts on this theme, all humans ever created have been given sufficient grace for salvation. All.

No one has been denied this.

Those who are demanding recognition of sin in their lives, or those cardinals who are allowing people to stay in sin are denying grace and not being faithful to grace.

The first thing we must always do to be holy is to stop sinning. This is possible as all of us are given grace to do this. Pain and suffering do not matter.

We are to be like God, and to remain in sin is to reject God's invitation to be like Him.

I wish one cardinal who is confused on these issues would read Thomas Aquinas, Garrigou-Lagrange and listen to such Thomists as Father Ripperger.

Beg for grace, all grace, actual, sanctifying, in order to give glory to God, to merit heaven, and to serve others in the Church.

My entire perfection series in on purgation. That is what our life is now...of which Father Ripperger reminds us, to be purged of sin and adorn our selves in virtue.

Accept suffering, either here or in purgatory....that is what some of the synodal fathers are forgetting.

Slavery of the Will; Freedom of the Will Part Ten

We are reminded in Father Ripperger's talk on Spiritual Theology that mortal sin removes one's ability to grow in grace.

If one is in mortal sin, such as living in an irregular marriage or living in a homosexual relationship, one can merit nothing.

Why? Because justice demands that we give God His due worship. Due worship is actually loving God, and God sees this love and love of Himself. God wants to see Him in us.

No one can give due worship, that is love God in justice, if one is in mortal sin.

Therefore, going to Holy Communion when one is in mortal sin not only denies God justice, but also due worship.

God does not see His love in the person who is living in disobedience to Him. Justice, therefore, is denied to God.

Disorder in the will because of sin must be dealt with in Confession. Mortal sin means that God sees that one has turned away from God, one breaks the union with God. The soul is unsuited for God, says Thomas Aquinas.

God deserves due worship. He deserves our love. If He looks at us and does not see a soul facing Him, He is not worshipped correctly.

Why admit people in mortal sin to Communion when these people get NO merit and they are not giving due worship to God?

That creates the sin of sacrilege. God retracts the causation of grace in the soul when one is in mortal sin. Prayers for friends and family members are useless for the person in mortal sin. The person in mortal sin cannot intercede for anyone. We need grace to intercede, to do holy things, to actuate the virtues, to do good works.

In mortal sin, we lose the love of God, which Thomas Aquinas states.

Why is it that so many of the synodal fathers do not know these basic teachings of the Church?

In mortal sin, first to go is love of God, second is hope, then faith. So teaches Fr. Ripperger using Thomas Aquinas.

The only way to get out of mortal sin is to return to God in the sacrament of Confession and repent of the sinful lifestyle. Period. Father Ripperger gives us a simple set of points, which I have shared here, which help us understand the effect of serious sin.

Cardinal would refuse Communion to pro-gay marriage Catholic legislators

One of Pope Francis' most vocal critics, who was demoted last week from his leadership of the Vatican's Supreme Court, has said he would refuse Holy Communion to any Catholic legislator who voted for same-sex marriage.

Speaking before a Limerick conference on the Catholic family, Cardinal Raymond Burke declined to comment on the Government's planned referendum over gay and lesbian marriage.
However, he said he would refuse Communion to pro-gay marriage Catholic legislators in the same way he did in the case of pro-choice legislators in his native United States.

He also reiterated his call to the Pontiff, made during last month's Synod on the Family, to clarify "at this point" where the Catholic Church stands on homosexual relations and on giving Holy Communion to divorced and civilly remarried couples.

Cardinal Burke told RTÉ News there is growing confusion about what the Church really teaches and that the impression is being given that it is a democracy in which a second synod of bishops will vote on these matters next year.

Cardinal Burke, who is now the Cardinal Patron of the Order of Malta, said neither Catholic doctrine nor discipline is decided by the votes of bishops.

The conference in Limerick is being organised by "The Catholic Voice" newspaper and was attended by the Bishop of Limerick, Dr Brendan Leahy and the former MEP Dana Rosemary Scallon.

A Prediction Concerning Catholic Marriages

The Ecclesiastical Courts Act 1855, the Matrimonial Causes Act 1857,
and the Ecclesiastical Courts Jurisdiction Act 1860 gradually moved marriage
regulation into the hands of the State.

A Time-Machine Back to 1581: the Death of an Enlightenment Democratic Monarchy

In this day and age of relativism, camps of opinion arise like midges on a hike in Alaska.
One brushes away one set of  "arguments", only to find dozens flying into one's face.
The media frenzy over the events of the past three weeks is not going to subside. On the contrary,
we Catholics are entering into a new era of Church-bashing which will not go away.

The days of toleration for differing religious opinions, or at least, Catholic teaching, is over.

I watched two days of the Parliament hearings of witnesses regarding the civil union or rather
same-sex-marriage act. I usually do not watch television, but I was visiting a friend who wanted
to watch this swarm of opinions based on sola fide, sola scriptura; each man and woman on the
panel proved to be his or her own pope.

The Church of England witnesses, as they were called, had eloquent and keen questions and answers.
So did Archbishop Peter Smith and his legal team. I was impressed by the firm and clear positions given
by these two groups.

Not so other groups, like the Church of Wales representatives, who waffled.

What did astound me was the out and out rudeness of some of the questioners, all of them MPs,
not to be named here. One can look at my blog for names. I merely want to point out the lack of
respect towards those representatives of organized religion. At several places in the presentation of
answers by Archbishop Peter Smith, some members laughed out loud in derision for the Catholic
position on marriage, pre-marital sex, and our anti-contraception, anti-abortion positions.

What came to my mind was that I could have been in a time-machine, taken back to the interrogations of
Edmund Campion, Ralph Sherwin, or Robert Southwell et al.

The entire meeting of this Parliament panel on both days was a sham. The smug hypocritical statements of
the members of Parliament shone out like words of old transcripts in a history of Recusant trials.

Parliament determines moral and religious policy in Britain, not the churches.

Parliament in 2013 mirrors Parliament in 1581, or 1585 or 1681, this last the year of the martyrdom of
St. Oliver Plunkett. I have seen his head in St. Peter's Church, Drogheda. His face is peaceful, but reveals pain.

We honour martyrs in the Catholic Church almost daily. We of this Guild honour Titus Brandsma,
who was martyred and is a Blessed. But, do we really want martyrs in 2013? Do we feel uncomfortable
watching Peter Smith being derided? Do we want our leaders to stand firm on the ancient teachings of the
One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church?

I hope we feel proud and strengthened by the witness of Truth.

I hope we stand with our leaders.

I hope we can see clearly that the actions of Parliament will lead to the type of society created under
Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, where those who kept the Faith were fined, suffered financial loss, ruin,
disgrace, if not martyrdom. Catholics will not be able to be registrars or superintendents of registrars.
Catholics may not be able to be teachers in some schools. The Catholic priests may be in a position
of disobedience to certain laws after judicial decisions.

Parliament acts just as it has since the Protestant Revolt. Parliament was given powers over the private
consciences of the people of Britain and it will take those powers and use those again and again and again.
Five hundred years of practice makes this pattern of oppression all too easy. There are precedences.

We are witnessing the death of the modern Enlightenment democracy as a philosophy of governance
We are witnessing the sliding back to a time when religions were not allowed to stand in the marketplace
and speak Truth.

The powers that be have not changed their philosophies. They have renewed an older pattern of intolerance
which is wedded to the very power of Parliament.

The Catholic Church has not changed Her Truths, Revelation and Tradition.

We are, again, Non-Conformists, and as in the past, consequences will follow strongly held beliefs.

I hope those who belong to the Guild of the martyr Titus Brandsma know how to stand firm in the storms
that will blow across Great Britain. We have an excellent example. Brandsma upheld the bishops' decisions
and the clarity of teaching that Catholicism and Nazism clashed. Catholicism will always clash with falsehood.

As Catholic journalists, we of this Guild can follow our patron to whatever consequences may follow.

I, for one, will write as long as I can for Christ and His Church.
