Cold First Day of Autumn

I must admit this has been the coldest summer and the coldest first day of Autumn I have experienced in the Lower 48. Tonight, it will be 40 degrees F and we have already seen several nights in the 30s.

I missed Summer, 2014. Now, as I am thinking over the past year, the dominant impression for me is one of being cold.

Some of my siblings hate the cold and one loves it. It is odd how people in the same family can react differently to climate or weather.

Needless to say, it is going to be a long winter for people here.

I wonder how people survived in the prairie days.
