Rant Three

Review point: Unless a psychologist or psychiatrist has training in Thomistic theology and philosophy, he or she will not be addressing the real source of healing.

And, one more rant.

Many, many years ago, I came across Theophostic healing. It is NOT based on Catholic ideas of sin and guilt, and it is dangerous.

It emphasizes the emotions and not the will. Sin is in the will, not in the emotions.

There are people involve in this so-called healing technique who use medical and psychological terms incorrectly. Few if any have professional training.

Catholics should avoid these types of ministries.

We have two-thousand years of dealing with pain and sin. The sacramental life and the traditional means of counseling and spiritual direction as taught by the saints form a solid heritage.

The studies of Father Chad Ripperger must be a starting point for anyone who thinks they need healing.

The way to perfection, the journey to holiness is old, tried and true.

Those who have followed the perfection series have seen the wisdom of the Doctors of the Church and Garriou-Lagrange.

With Fr. Ripperger, with a good Thomistic counselor, with an excellent spiritual director or even a confessor, one can be healed.
